Call it the Balenciaga effect.
Since models walked the French fashion house’s Fall 2017 runway with the brand’s iconic “B” painted on their fingertips last year. Nail art has been making a highly style-conscious comeback. New York guru Jin Soon Choi also created customized manicures for Marc Jacobs’s runway, spelling out the designer’s name on each model’s 10 fingertips. Now, nail logomania is well on its way to going viral.
The Japanese-born expert Mei Kawajiri, who created those graphic black Balenciaga manicures (as well as the label’s mall chick–era, crystalized runway talons from Spring 2017), is fueling the movement. Regularly posting next-level designs on Instagram for her fashion-obsessed followers and proving that. So with the right tools, your fingertips can be Hermès, Louis Vuitton, or even Supreme. And if something more discreet is in order? Take a cue from artist and It girl Petra Collins, who opted for a pale pink manicure (courtesy of pro Madeline Poole) this week to celebrate her status as the face of Gucci’s newest fragrance; embossed with a carefully crafted, minimalist gold-lettered logo sticker, it’s destined to be an instant cult hit.
